Progression through many magic mods.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 56 graded mods, 23 are graded A or B, 13 C and 20 D to F. Its newest release is for Minecraft 1.11.2. See the mods
Age of Magic is a magic-and-magitech progression pack inspired by Age of Engineering, built to make its mods work together along a quest-guided path rather than letting players progress through each mod independently. Its Ages center on mythical peoples and powers: the Fairies with Roots, Elves with Botania, Dwarves with Embers, Drow with Evil Craft, Demons with Blood Magic, Celestial Spirits with Astral Sorcery, Dragons with Ice and Fire, and finally Man with Psi. The pack frames this progression as survival in a strange world reached through a portal, where an aura prevents ordinary ore mining and tool smithing, so players must learn magic and use the resources available to them. Pickaxes are largely disabled, making the shatter spell a route to the Nether before players can later obtain pickaxes from the Dwarves; other tools remain usable. Its showcased content includes Oren, an exiled fairy who offers trades and builds a tree house, as well as a Moon Circle and a potato mana farm.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.11.2 · Forge, 9 Oct 2017). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 22 Sep 2017 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. Same mods in both. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its mods
We checked all 59 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
8 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 59 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make its mods
We found no AI use from before this release (9 Oct 2017) in the 32 mods we checked.
6 mods show AI use only from after it, so it does not apply to the versions in this pack.
27 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
