A tough but (mostly) fair modpack inspired by table-top RPGs.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 112 graded mods, 36 are graded A or B, 17 C and 59 D to F. Its last update came out 15 months ago, for Minecraft 1.12.2. See the mods
Super Hostile Modpack is a challenging, mostly fair fantasy survival pack inspired by tabletop role-playing games, designed for standalone worlds as well as Super Hostile maps, including Complete the Monument-style play. A quest system introduces the pack and gives players missions and goals, while thirst and temperature add survival concerns beyond hunger; many difficulty elements, including drinking, can be adjusted in the mod options. Exploration centers on dungeon delving, combat with a varied roster of monsters, and generated hostile structures, with a safe buffer around world spawn before those dangers become more common. Combat draws on a rebalanced selection of weapons, including long-reaching pikes and inexpensive wooden boomerangs, while loot follows a gradual power curve. Magic offers immediately useful effects and spells, alongside restrained medieval-fantasy automation; longer-term progression can lead to powerful gear, magic, and a kingdom with NPC workers and soldiers. Death has lasting consequences through reduced maximum health, which can be restored by collecting heart shards and crafting heart containers; players retain their backpack, baubles, and held item. The pack also includes survival maps such as the skyblock-style Vexblock, and supports solo play, small co-op groups, and larger multiplayer servers.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.12.2 · Forge, 22 Jul 2025). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 5 Sep 2024 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in the projects we checked
We checked 115 of its 116 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
4 mods send something about you
We read the code of 114 of its 115 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 5 of the 51 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
64 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
