Sundial Lite is a free, open-source Minecraft shaderpack designed to balance visual quality, performance, and compatibility. It enhances lighting and surfaces with shadowmapping, including transparent shadows and water caustics, soft and screen-space shadows, volumetric light and fog, LabPBR materials, anisotropic filtering, parallax effects, and screen-space ambient occlusion and reflections. Its atmosphere responds to player height, while configurable blocky or realistic clouds can cast shadows and obscure the ground at high altitude; water can use either a realistic or vanilla style, and weather, underwater fog, Nether fog, End fog, and an End galaxy are also rendered. Image effects include temporal antialiasing, depth of field, motion blur, bloom, exposure adjustment, chromatic dispersion, tone mapping, and final sharpening, with configurable options for many features. Compared with the full Sundial shader, Lite omits voxelization and world-space ray tracing, reducing the computation required for volumetric lighting and reflections in exchange for fewer multiple-bounce reflections and better performance and mod compatibility. It is compatible with Distant Horizons, Voxy, Vivecraft, Colorwheel, Super Resolution, and Physics Mod Pro.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
Changes how the game looks: 47 shader programs, for the Nether and the End. Draws its own shadows, water, sky, clouds and weather.
Settings in English and Chinese. Has programs for Distant Horizons and Voxy.
No harmful code found
We checked what is inside its files, without opening them in the game.
Why we show this: a shader cannot run programs, but its file can hide one. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade.
Sends nothing
A shader has no code that can connect to the internet, so it cannot send anything about you.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
