Adds stronger variants for hostile mobs.
69.5 of the 71 points that apply = 98 out of 100. The points above are rounded to whole numbers.
Mob Variants adds stronger hostile-mob forms by replacing some vanilla mobs after they spawn, with conversion chances that can depend on where they appear. Cave conversions become more likely at lower depths, while biome-specific forms include the Tropical Spider and wall-climbing Explorer in jungles, Frozen Zombies in snowy biomes, Bloated Corpses in swamps, Corsairs around beaches, oceans, and shipwrecks, and Toxic Slimes in mangrove swamps. Examples of cave variants include an Armored Spider that deflects ordinary arrows, an Undead Warrior whose limited arrows inflict effects such as weakness or blindness, a Forgotten that inflicts mining fatigue, and a Cave Creeper that explodes quickly when set on fire. Nether variants include the fire-immune Infected Piglin, the stronger Ghast-like Nightmare that fires extra small fireballs at close range, the axe-wielding Executioner, the fast Soul Stealer that deals magic damage and moves quickly on soul sand, the fire-setting Lava Slime, and the faster, hard-hitting Zombified Piglin Brute. Other variants bring distinct effects and behaviors: Frozen Zombies slow enemies, Bloated Corpses can release poisonous gas when killed or cause a fire explosion when burning, and Corsairs can swim and wield wooden swords. Conversion chances are configurable, and datapacks can define or replace conversion rules, including requirements based on chance, mob position, biome, or configuration values.
Written from Modrinth and the GitHub README . How we write it
Changes the game's code in 3 areas: Mobs and their behaviorChanges 11 game code files in this area: mobs, animals, villagers, projectiles and how they move and act., World generationChanges 1 game code file in this area: terrain, biomes and structures made when new land is created. and Server and world logicChanges 1 game code file in this area: the world, commands, scoreboards, saved data and game rules..
Adds 17 items, 17 mobs and 17 loot tables.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files and images and found none.
We have not read its code history yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

Fewer modpacks put it in their new versions than a year ago: 6 a month now, 10 a year agoThe average of the last 6 months, compared with the same 6 months a year before. We say it only when the change is large..
