About
Scaling Health is a configurable difficulty and health mod for tuning Minecraft toward a tougher or more forgiving experience, including in modpacks and multiplayer servers. Its difficulty system can track a value per player or across the server, changing over time or in response to events such as deaths and mob kills; nearby-player and distance-based settings can also shape the difficulty where mobs spawn. As difficulty rises, mobs can gain extra health, attack damage, and potion effects, with several options for scaling their health. Some mobs can spawn as blights: visibly marked by purple fire, they are unusually durable and dangerous, may wear armor, and can reward players with extra heart crystals and experience. Players can adjust their starting and maximum health, while heart crystals provide lasting extra hearts by default and can be obtained from mobs or crafted from shards. The mod also adds power crystals to increase base attack power, cursed and enchanted hearts to raise or lower difficulty, and bandages and medkits that heal gradually while slowing the user. Heart and power crystal ores become more common farther from spawn, and a HUD difficulty bar distinguishes local area difficulty from the player's accumulated difficulty. Configuration options and datapack mechanics allow many of these systems to be adjusted or disabled, including the factors that drive difficulty and the effects on health and damage.
