About
Spartan Shields expands Minecraft’s defensive gear with craftable standard and tower shields made from vanilla and compatible modded materials. The base selection ranges from a Crude Wooden Shield and stone-braced or iron-plated shields to gold-gilded, diamond-reinforced and obsidian shields; tower versions are also available, and wooden tower shields can display banners. Obsidian shields trade slower movement for increased knockback resistance, while silver shields damage undead that touch them as you block. When compatible materials are supplied by other mods, additional options include copper, tin, bronze, steel, lead, nickel, invar, constantan, platinum and electrum shields, with Botania materials adding mana-regenerating manasteel, terrasteel and elementium shields. Some material-specific shields add effects while blocking: Thermal Foundation shields can inflict Weakness or Glowing, and Enderium shields can inflict Slowness. Tower shields provide greater durability than regular shields and can bash multiple nearby enemies, with a longer cooldown. Most shields support enchantments such as Unbreaking, Knockback and Spikes, which can damage attackers; Firebrand can set bash targets alight, while Payback converts some blocked damage into a stronger bash.
