Tectonic is a world-generation mod and datapack that reshapes the Overworld into more varied terrain, with large continent-like landmasses and smaller mountainous islands separated by broad oceans. Its signature mountain ranges can stretch for tens of thousands of blocks, while deeper oceans feature varied underwater terrain such as overhangs, valleys, and trenches. Other landscapes include rolling desert dunes, tiered plateaus with occasional gentle ramps, badlands canyons and isolated plateaus, and valleys that can shelter Cherry Groves or Pale Gardens. Some jungles rise into towering vegetated pillars, and some forests, jungles, and taigas sit near sea level among frequent ponds and lakes; smooth rolling hills also appear in some plains, flower forests, and ice spikes. Where high mountains interrupt surface rivers, water can continue through varied underground channels that link back to the rivers above; rare lantern-lit sections and glow lichen add detail in the mod version. Rare, deep lava tunnels provide a hotter counterpart to the underground rivers, with narrow, twisting passages. The mod version provides an in-game configuration screen for adjusting terrain and toggling features, including ocean depth, underground rivers, lava tunnels, and dunes. Tectonic is designed to work with many biome mods, including Biomes O' Plenty, Regions Unexplored, and Nature's Spirit; with Terralith, its compatible terrain setup can also add volcanoes and calderas to the islands.

Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and code history and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

These projects do not work together with Tectonic: their authors or Tectonic's author say so. If you install both, the game can crash or some features can stop working. Some of them do the same job as Tectonic, so you only need one.

In the last 2 years, 12 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This lowers the grade by 4 points.
