The Betweenlands is a large exploration and survival mod built around a separate, fully developed dimension: a dark, swampy realm of decayed civilizations where players must adapt to its hostile environment. Its landscapes span Swamplands, Patchy Islands, Coarse Islands, Sludge Plains, Deep Waters, and Marshes, with underground Caverns and Lake Caverns, ancient ruins and dungeons, and landmarks such as the Wight Fortress. The world has a shifting green sky, occasional auroras and weather events, dense plant life, and custom ambient sounds and music; its creatures include Wights, Lurkers, Chiromaws, and Anglers, alongside aquatic life such as Anadia, Olms, jellyfish, and Bubbler Crabs. Survival rules differ sharply from the Overworld: the dimension has no day-night cycle, its foul air gradually decays creatures, outside food rots on arrival, and familiar tools are less effective while Betweenlands tools corrode. Players can develop herblore by combining 14 plant-based aspects into more than 30 infusions, cultivate new crops, and use a dedicated farming system; later additions also include silk cultivation, brewing, and making drinks and dyes with the Steeping Pot. Exploration and combat are supported by hundreds of blocks and items, including machines, weapons, armor, tools, food, raw materials, and loot, as well as bosses, structures, and scattered lore. Additional activities include fishing for Anadia with a Weedwood rod, catching crabs in Crab Pots, preparing seafood at a Trimming Table or Smoking Rack, and crafting upgradeable Amphibious Armor and a Fishing Spear. Hazards and mechanics include food sickness, corrosion, player decay, supernatural events, and a combat system centered on three gem items; the mod also provides custom shader effects and supports multiplayer survival.
Written from CurseForge and the GitHub README . How we write it
It has no file for a recent Minecraft version. This is about its files for Minecraft 1.7.10 to 1.12.2.
Adds 516 recipes, 121 advancements, 97 loot tables and 355 sounds.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
It has no file for a recent Minecraft version. This is about its files for Minecraft 1.7.10 to 1.12.2.
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends about you
It has no file for a recent Minecraft version. This is about its files for Minecraft 1.7.10 to 1.12.2.
We read its code without running it: it contacts 2 web addresses while you play.
Like any connection, each address it contacts sees your IP address.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign so far that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its description, files, images, sounds and code history and found none.
We have not read its changelogs yet.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
