Survive freezing Siberia after a train crash in a snowy world.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 74 graded mods, 57 are graded A or B, 14 C and 3 D to F. Its last update came out 7 months ago, for Minecraft 1.20.1. See the mods
Survive the Winter is a realism-focused survival modpack set after your train crashes in Siberia, with a custom map placing you in an endless frozen region where even formerly lush biomes are covered in snow and ice. Staying alive depends on managing your body heat: getting too cold or too hot can be fatal, so you must weigh your choices as you seek warmth and supplies. Woolen outfits, ice skates and certain tools offer warmth or security against the harsh conditions, while frozen cave entrances and icicles hanging over ledges add environmental hazards. The pack also includes ridable polar bears and a configured shader, and its gallery hints at an encounter with the Backrooms.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Fabric, 12 Mar 2026). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 7 Mar 2026 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. Same mods in both. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its projects
We checked all 78 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
5 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 75 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make its mods
We found no AI use from before this release (12 Mar 2026) in the 75 mods we checked.
3 mods show AI use only from after it, so it does not apply to the versions in this pack.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
