About
AutoTag is a technical mod that improves compatibility between Minecraft mods by automatically adding modded items, blocks, and biomes to common tags when they meet defined conditions, without adding gameplay content of its own. It covers tags for tools such as pickaxes, axes, shovels, and hoes; weapons and shields; armor and equipment slots; ores, skulls, and placeable blocks; and food, drinks, and potions. For example, eligible armor is grouped under c:armor, head-wearable items under c:head_equippables, and foods with possible status effects under c:food_with_effects. It also categorizes blocks as ores or skulls and biomes by whether their precipitation is none, rain, or snow. These tags help modpack makers and developers configure recipes and other integrations without maintaining long lists of individual modded items; server tag lists are shared with clients joining the world. Datapack prevent tags can exclude specific entries from an automatically populated tag or from all automatic tags, and developers can use the separate API to register additional tags based on their own conditions.
