Immersive Overlays makes useful world information appear on the HUD as an in-world aid, with each overlay normally tied to carrying a particular item rather than shown unconditionally. A compass reveals X and Z coordinates, while a depth-reading item such as Supplementaries’ Altimeter or a Caverns & Chasms or Spelunkery Depth Gauge adds the Y coordinate; Lodestone and Recovery Compasses instead show distance to their anchor. A clock displays the time of day and can also show weather when paired with a weather-reading item such as the Caverns & Chasms Barometer, while a map reveals the current biome and a calendar shows the season when a compatible seasons mod is installed. A thermometer can display temperature, a speedometer can show movement speed, and a gust gauge can show wind intensity and direction. A compatible lunar clock displays the moon phase, with support for Spectrum’s Crescent Clock, Urkaz Moon Tools’ Lunar Clock, Tide 2’s Lunar Calendar, and Twilight Forest’s Moon Dial; mods that add lunar events can replace the phase display with the active event. Season displays support Serene Seasons, Fabric Seasons, Simple Seasons, TerraFirmaCraft, and Ecliptic Seasons, while temperature readings can draw on player-temperature data from mods including Tough as Nails, Cold Sweat, and Legendary Survival Overhaul. Biome overlays cover vanilla biomes and can be extended to modded biomes with resource-pack sprites, and the mod has built-in item support for Spelunkery, Caverns & Chasms, and Supplementaries. When compatible mods are installed, overlay items can also be detected in accessory slots from Accessories, Curios, or Trinkets and in backpacks such as Traveler’s Backpack and Sophisticated Backpacks. Configuration can adjust overlay behavior, including showing overlays without their usual item requirement, and mod-specific items can be added through configuration options.
Written from Modrinth , CurseForge and the GitHub README . How we write it
Changes the game's code in 3 areas: User interfaceChanges 2 game code files in this area: menus, screens, tooltips, the chat window and the in-game overlay., PlayerChanges 1 game code file in this area: your character: movement, abilities, hunger and controls. and Game coreChanges 1 game code file in this area: the main loop, lighting and other code the whole game uses..
A library packed inside it changes 7 more game code files:
MRU.
Adds 2 key bindings: Open Config and Toggle Overlays.
Counted from the names and data files in the mod, so the list may not be complete.
Keeps all of vanilla Minecraft's textures, models and sounds.
No harmful code found
We checked its files and read their code, without running it.
Why we show this: a mod runs on your computer like any program, so harmful code in it can take your accounts or files. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade, and a Warning in a latest file for a recent Minecraft version lowers it.
We found nothing it sends
We read its code without running it: it contacts no web address while you play.
Why we show this: a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and code history and found none.
No sign of AI in the game
We found no AI service, AI library or AI model file in its code.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.

More modpacks put it in their new versions than a year ago: 185 a month now, 16 a year agoThe average of the last 6 months, compared with the same 6 months a year before. We say it only when the change is large..
922 modpacks include Immersive Overlays in at least one of their versions. Here are the 30 most downloaded.
Mods that modpacks often add together with Immersive Overlays. Share: how many of the modpacks with Immersive Overlays also have that mod.
The newest file for each Minecraft version and loader. The files for recent versions come first. Recent versions: those released in the last 2 years, plus 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, among the most played in modpacks.
In the last 2 years, 9 releases needed a quick fix: a new release within 3 days to fix a problem. This lowers the grade by 2 points.
