    About

    L2 Hostility makes combat difficulty scale with players by giving eligible enemies levels based on factors such as dimension, biome, location, nearby player difficulty, and creature type; killing strong enemies raises difficulty, while player deaths reduce it. As enemy levels rise, mobs gain health and damage and are more likely to receive traits, with 37 traits spanning effects such as fiery attacks, invisibility, regeneration, speed, gravity changes, explosive shots, damage adaptation, and splitting into additional enemies. Higher-level and legendary traits can impose hazards such as equipment wear, disabling enchantments, teleportation, persistent respawning, or sealing equipment, while some traits offer specific counterplay through magic, arrows, or protective enchantments. Difficulty is tracked for players and chunk sections: a Hostility Detector reveals current difficulty, and a Hostility Orb can make a section permanently safe from hostile mob spawns. The progression loop rewards fighting trait-bearing mobs with ingredients, then uses the Curse of Envy to unlock trait symbols that can be used to craft better gear. The mod also adds 28 curio items and two combat enchantments, and lets players configure traits, difficulty, and drops through configuration and datapacks. Its datapacks tailor threats for other content, for example giving Ice and Fire dragons high levels with Regen and Adaptive traits, and making Cataclysm bosses substantially tougher, with especially powerful bosses gaining special curios.
