    About

    Lithosphere overhauls Overworld terrain generation to create a more cinematic landscape, with gigantic and smaller continents separated by deep oceans, occasional islands and archipelagos. Coastlines often form broad beaches that slope gradually into the sea, while mountainous areas can have steep, more naturally shaped cliffs. Vanilla’s ring-shaped mountains are replaced by less pointy, higher mountain ranges, and karst formations can evoke places such as Monument Valley or Ha Long Bay. Rivers are less frequent and carve valleys through mountains, while large lakes can appear across the world, sometimes with islands. The terrain has smoother elevation transitions, swamps tend to form in lower regions and apart from windswept biomes, and larger temperature and humidity regions make biomes bigger while retaining variety. Caves rarely reach the surface, but surface openings are more likely to lead into larger cave systems. Most world-generation mods, including Biomes O’ Plenty and Nature’s Spirit, are expected to work with Lithosphere, but datapacks that alter Overworld noise settings may need adjustment to use Lithosphere’s final density function.
