Survive a hundred days as zombies grow more dangerous.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 131 graded mods, 105 are graded A or B, 20 C and 6 D to F. Its last update came out 3 months ago, for Minecraft 1.20.1. See the mods
Hope and Despair is a hardcore survival modpack that recreates the “100 Days of Shock” gameplay, with the goal of surviving 100 days against an escalating zombie threat. Zombies mutate over time and eventually gain the ability to break and place blocks, making a fortified shelter increasingly important. Survival also means managing body temperature, avoiding thin-air hazards at extreme heights, depths, or near lava, and sleeping regularly to prevent exhaustion and its negative effects. The Nether and End are locked, but their materials can be found or crafted using Overworld resources; the pack focuses on survival rather than defeating the Ender Dragon. A zombie infection can be cured by drinking a crafted Milk Bottle, and players can adjust the difficulty through the game settings.
Written from Modrinth . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge, 14 Jul 2026). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 16 May 2026 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its projects
We checked all 134 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
4 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 123 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files, images and code history yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
