About
Permafrost is a hardcore apocalypse-survival modpack set in a world consumed by an endless, lethal storm of cold, where the central goal is to survive and reclaim a foothold in the frozen wasteland. A brutal temperature system makes exposure a constant threat, while a cast of custom enemies with distinctive properties turns the storm into an active danger. Combat is resource-based, and its consecration mechanic requires fire to properly damage frigid foes, making fire and pyromancy part of the survival strategy. The pack reshapes familiar Minecraft and modded play around the frozen setting, with custom recipes, selected technology and magic mods, and vivid underground cave biomes that contrast with the deadly surface. Nearly 200 quests and a main storyline lead players into the storm to investigate its origins and uncover what the world was like before the catastrophe, with lore delivered through the questbook and item descriptions. A miniboss generator also creates unique tragic undead foes to encounter during the struggle for survival.
