Barely Default is a resource pack that refreshes Minecraft’s default look while drawing on lore from across the franchise to make the world feel more cohesive and detailed without losing its familiar style. It updates older textures to match a more detailed modern look and adds custom entity models, 3D block and item models, connected textures, and random texture variations. Examples include a custom Ender Dragon, a redesigned Wither, wolf and drowned variants, and a Skeletal Horseman that appears with a skeleton trap. It also brings Minecraft Legends designs into the game through iron golem variants based on special golems and piglin brute variants based on Horde leaders and chieftains. Connected-texture details include stone wrapping cave surfaces and layered patterns for red mushroom blocks; torches are reimagined as sconces, and tools and equipment also receive custom models or name-dependent variants.
Written from Modrinth and CurseForge . How we write it
Changes 10,973 models.
Counted from the first 20,000 files of the pack.
Adds 119 models and 2 language files. In OptiFine's formats: 1,652 custom item textures, 347 entity models, 128 texture animations and 1 other file. Also has files for 1 other mod: Barely default.
Block textures are mostly 16 by 16 pixels, up to 64 by 64.
No harmful code found
We checked what is inside its files, without opening them in the game.
Why we show this: a resource pack cannot run programs, but its file can hide one. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: malware means no grade.
Sends nothing
A resource pack has no code that can connect to the internet, so it cannot send anything about you.
No sign that AI was used to make it
We looked for AI tools in its texts, files, images and code history and found none.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
