About
Lenient Death is a server-side alternative to gravestone mods that makes death less punishing by letting servers preserve selected items instead of keeping the entire inventory. Preservation rules can use a manual safe list, item types, an NBT-based soulbound-style marker, and optional chance, with settings configurable for everyone or on a per-player basis. Items that are dropped can glow through walls to help players recover them, and the outline shifts from green through yellow, orange, and red as the drops approach despawning. The mod can extend dropped-item lifetimes, prevent them from despawning, protect them from fire, lava, cactus, and explosions, or recover them from the void by teleporting them to safety or keeping them in the inventory. When recovered, items can return to their original inventory slots, including re-equipping armor where possible. Death coordinates can be sent to the player and optionally to server logs or online administrators, while saved inventories let administrators restore a player's items after death. Optional experience preservation can retain some or all of a player's XP, and administrators can manage item and experience settings per player through permissions or player controls.
