About
YUNG's Better Caves overhauls Minecraft's underground generation, keeping surface caves relatively understated while creating more varied and dramatic terrain farther below. Its cave shapes include winding, worm-like passages and larger tunnels, while caverns open into broader spaces. Exploration can lead to lava caverns, underground lakes and rivers, flooded caverns, and flooded caves and ravines in ocean biomes. The mod also adds vanilla-style surface caves, with generation adjusted to avoid making mountains excessively riddled with holes. Extensive settings let players tune cave and cavern generation, and separate configurations allow different underground setups for individual dimensions, including the Nether. Official presets offer a Vanilla+ option with water regions, flooded caves and ravines, and more frequent vanilla caves, as well as a version with more restrained caverns.
