F.O.G. of Magic is a quest-driven modpack about surviving in a world where magic has locked away modern technology, then working to reclaim it and build a new home. Its 450-plus quests guide players through 13 major magic and low-tech mods, teaching magic and steampunk-era technology while rewarding quest progress with money and Tokens. Money can also be earned by selling goods and defeating monsters, and spent with the interdimensional cats Kow and Kai on resources and technology; players can buy technology outright or unlock the ability to craft it themselves. The pack adds more than 100 Resourceful Bees and Resource Pandas, while Blind Bags, Blind Boxes, and Chance Globes can yield items or blocks from a pool of thousands. Its Lost Knowledge questline provides a route to unlocking technology, and the pack also includes Dungeons Mod monsters, bosses, and items, alongside new enchantments from Random Enchants. Resource bees have custom models and textures, distinctive traits, and resource-related flower requirements, with spawns distributed across the Overworld, Nether, and End. The pack supports Vivecraft, including multiplayer server improvements through Vivecraft Forge Extensions.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.16.5 · Forge, 30 Apr 2023). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 23 Jun 2022 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its mods
We checked all 202 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
5 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 202 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make its mods
We found no AI use from before this release (30 Apr 2023) in the 141 mods we checked.
9 mods show AI use only from after it, so it does not apply to the versions in this pack.
61 mods are not checked yet.
Made with AI: not checked yet
We have not looked for AI tools in the pack itself yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
