A beginner-friendly pack that teaches modded play through quests and guides.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 111 graded mods, 44 are graded A or B, 24 C and 43 D to F. Its last update came out 7 years ago, for Minecraft 1.12.2. See the mods
FTB Academy is a beginner-focused modpack that teaches modded Minecraft concepts through guided quests and an in-game reference guide, so players can learn without having to rely on external wikis and videos. Players begin in a school tutorial area, where quests and in-world images introduce topics such as automation, technology, and magic before sending them to the Overworld to start playing normally. Its more than 300 quests guide players through progression in common mods, while nearly 100 pages of guides offer deeper explanations where needed. Outside the school tutorial, the pack avoids changing recipes or progression, aiming to present an experience representative of an average modpack.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.12.2 · Forge, 28 Oct 2019). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 23 Sep 2019 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. Same mods in both. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in its mods
We checked all 115 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
6 mods send something about you
We read the code of all 115 of its mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 7 of the 62 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
53 mods are not checked yet.
Made with AI: not checked yet
We have not looked for AI tools in the pack itself yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
