About
Defiled Lands adds hazardous biomes to the Overworld, with seven variants spanning deserts, plains, hills, swamplands, ice plains, and forests of Tenebra or Vilespine. Defiled ground converts nearby blocks within its natural biome, including coal, iron, and diamond ore into Hephaestite, Umbrium, and Scarlite deposits, while the converted terrain also yields other distinctive blocks and resources. The landscape grows twisted Tenebra trees, damaging Vilespine, explosive Blastem plants, and Scuronotte mushrooms, which can be harvested for wood, ammunition, and defilement powder. Its creatures include circling, spider-like Scuttlers; projectile-resistant Shamblers and faster underground Twisted Shamblers; Hosts that release splitting Defiled Slimes when hurt; and neutral Book Wyrms. Underground Defiled Dungeons resemble vanilla dungeons but use defiled stone bricks, contain themed loot, and spawn the biome’s monsters. Small natural structures can contain Conjuring Altars, where a Calling Stone summons The Destroyer, a boss that leaps at targets and can cause an explosion on landing. Resources from the biomes support distinctive equipment, including Umbrium tools, the Scarlite Reaver, the Blastem-fruit-firing Umbra Blaster, and Ravaging gear crafted with materials from the boss. Book Wyrms add a breeding and enchantment-recycling system: feed them enchanted books to have them digest enchantment levels into a new book, or breed them with Foul Candy to improve traits such as digestion time and enchanting level. Defiled blocks spread only a short distance beyond natural biome boundaries by default, and blocks placed outside natural defiled biomes do not spread; the spread limit can be changed in configuration.
