    About

    Horseman improves horse travel and handling with quality-of-life features for horses and other related creatures, including donkeys, mules, llamas, and camels. When mounted, players can click a fence to hitch their horse using a lead kept in a dedicated inventory slot; removing or breaking the leash leaves the lead in that slot. A copper horn can summon a horse from anywhere after it has been bound to the horse, and the horse remains associated with its owner; in newer versions, the horn uses one unique sound and binds only one horse. Ridden horses can swim when the player jumps in water, fit in boats, and move through forests more easily because leaf collisions are adjusted. Riding adjustments include a higher step height, less slowdown when descending blocks, better retention of ground speed in the air for longer horizontal jumps, and a fix for jitter when riding up blocks. The mod also lets players look around independently while a stationary horse waits, keeps the rider’s facing direction when mounting, limits how far a saddled horse wanders from where its owner left it, and makes the horse nearly disappear when the rider looks down. An inventory button and hotkey switch between the player’s and horse’s inventories, while the mounted interface keeps the hunger bar visible and shows the jump meter only when jumping. Additional conveniences include maintaining mining speed while mounted, removing a chest from a donkey, mule, or llama with shears while dropping its contents, and displaying horse-stat tooltips when holding food the horse likes. Horseman also includes smaller riding and compatibility tweaks, such as improved mounted camera behavior, dismounting in the player’s facing direction, and leather horse armor that lets horses walk on powder snow; its features are configurable.
