About
Tough As Nails adds survival systems that make staying hydrated and managing body temperature part of the challenge. Thirst drains over time and can limit sprinting and health regeneration; on Hard difficulty, dehydration can be fatal, while drinking impure water can cause Thirst and make the meter fall faster. Players can collect water with bottles or tiered canteens, purify it with a Water Purifier or a rain-fed Rain Collector, and prepare fruit juices that restore more thirst than purified water. Body temperature shifts through five levels, from Icy to Hot, in response to conditions such as biome, time of day, weather, altitude, immersion, nearby blocks, armor, and held or consumed items; extreme cold or heat risks hypothermia or hyperthermia and gradual damage. Players can counter temperature extremes with cooling or heating items and armor, or fuel a Thermoregulator to heat, cool, or neutralize an enclosed space. The mod also adds practical temperature tools, including a Thermometer for checking conditions and a Temperature Gauge that outputs redstone signals based on detected environmental cold or warmth. Additional survival options include Climatologist villagers who trade temperature-related gear and supplies, wool armor for protection from hypothermia, and Leaf armor that changes color to match local foliage.
