Better Beta

Better Beta is a modpack that recreates the feel of Minecraft beta 1.7.3 within modern Minecraft, combining beta-inspired terrain generation, textures, and gameplay with newer features, optimization, and quality-of-life improvements. World creation offers beta 1.7.3 generation and Beta Vanilla, which keeps modern biomes while using a beta-style world-generation structure; the pack also removes sprinting and hunger and limits its soundtrack to C418 music. Seasons shape survival across 28-day cycles: winter brings snow to most biomes, while seasonal crop growth can slow or stop, encouraging players to rotate crops or rely more on animal farming. Enchanting is discovery-based rather than driven by experience and random rolls: players learn enchantments from books found through exploration, then spend resources to apply them, progressing through each level in order. Progression also encourages exploration through End Remastered, which requires finding or crafting distinctive eyes in places such as desert pyramids, igloos, mineshafts, bastions, and jungle temples, as well as defeating bosses, before opening the End. Railways offer destination-based junctions controlled by signs and player-selected routes, while minecarts can travel faster on rails laid over gravel. The pack also reworks elytra flight: campfire smoke can provide upward lift, and the Smokestack enchantment lets players store boosts for use while flying.
