GregTech: New Beginnings is an expert progression modpack that guides players through a technology-focused journey toward leaving the Milky Way, with an in-game questbook providing direction. Players begin with basic flint tools, move into Create and rotational-force machinery, then start GregTech progression once they obtain bronze. The pack’s progression spans production and automation through increasingly advanced GregTech tiers, with the quest path currently reaching the ZPM age and further default progression available up to UHV. Exploration becomes part of the technological climb: progression unlocks the Nether, the End, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, and Venus, alongside systems such as bees, Applied Energistics 2, and research. The pack also reshapes crafting and industrial production with custom recipes and machines, including Create millstone ore processing, GregTech alloying and casting, hydroponics, arboretums, and advanced isotope-processing machines. The collection includes more than 280 mods, with Create and GregTech at its core and supporting systems such as Ad Astra, Applied Energistics 2, Ender IO, Sophisticated Backpacks, and NuclearCraft: Neoteric.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge, 9 May 2025). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 1 Dec 2024 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. Same mods in both. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in the projects we checked
We checked 281 of its 282 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
8 mods send something about you
We read the code of 275 of its 276 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 19 of the 241 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
35 mods are not checked yet.
Made with AI: not checked yet
We have not looked for AI tools in the pack itself yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
