A challenging adventure with limited lives and tougher other worlds.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 329 graded mods, 249 are graded A or B, 55 C and 25 D to F. Its newest release is for Minecraft 1.20.1. See the mods
Insomnia: Hardcore is a challenging, eerie RPG adventure built around limited lives, character skill trees, and difficulty that varies by dimension, for solo players or groups seeking a tense but exploratory experience. Choose among Origins and RPG-style classes, then develop your character with skill and attribute systems while taking on expanded combat and equipment options, including spells, runes, swords, bows, and dungeon loot. Exploration spans an enhanced Overworld with new biomes, villages, dungeons, and bosses; a dramatically reshaped Nether with new structures and bosses; an expanded End with alien vegetation and additional discoveries; and the Twilight Forest, with its own bosses to conquer. Named additions include YUNG’s Better Dungeons, Better Desert Temples, Better Jungle Temples, Better Ocean Monuments, Better Witch Huts, and Better Nether Fortresses, alongside Moog’s structures, Philip’s Ruins, and Mine Cells’ Dead Cells-inspired dungeon content. The pack leans into unsettling exploration with very dark caves, an atmosphere of being watched, and From The Fog’s rare visits from Herobrine; the major haunting is disabled. New worlds provide starter gear and a house, while servers generate a spawn shelter intended to protect new players before they set out. Create-based building and automation, expanded farming and food, ships, backpacks, and party-and-claims support add options for crafting, travel, and cooperative play.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Fabric, 6 Aug 2024). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
6 files not listed: no matching project found.
Compared with the release of 13 Jul 2024 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in the projects we checked
We checked 342 of its 343 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
11 mods send something about you
We read the code of 326 of its 328 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make its mods
We found no AI use from before this release (6 Aug 2024) in the 274 mods we checked.
19 mods show AI use only from after it, so it does not apply to the versions in this pack.
54 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
