The Winter Frontier is a winter survival modpack set three years after a catastrophe, where players in the city of Cyprus must establish a survivor camp ahead of a severe blizzard in a zombie apocalypse. Cyprus is a fortified industrial and research city that became heavily infected after an underground assault, leaving its walled area and abandoned urban spaces as a dangerous setting for survival and scavenging. Cold is a central threat: body temperature responds to the surrounding biome, nearby blocks, and season, so players need warm clothing and fires or fireplaces to avoid a debilitating cold effect. Survival also involves balancing diet and hydration, managing food that freezes over time, storing supplies in refrigerators or other containers, and allowing time to digest; overeating can slow movement or cause vomiting, while prolonged lack of sleep brings serious penalties. Zombies can break blocks from the start, and their strength rises over time after a three-day protection period, with tougher zombies potentially carrying weapons or wearing equipment. Exploration and trade support progression: city and ruin chests can contain firearms, bullets, weapons, and equipment, while players can trade through a small black market, with the PDC, or with Wandering Traders. Zombies can drop currency, cigarettes, and brain cores used to enhance weapons and equipment, and recurring zombie swarms generally begin within the first 15 days and return about every 15 days. A custom hunting system lets players process animals including polar bears, chickens, cows, pigs, rabbits, sheep, wolves, and deer with a hunter’s knife, producing meat for food or improved ingredients.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.18.2 · Forge, 23 Dec 2025). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
1 file not listed: no matching project found.
Compared with the release of 6 Dec 2025 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in the projects we checked
We checked 262 of its 266 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
7 mods send something about you
We read the code of 260 of its 263 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 20 of the 212 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
51 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
