A familiar world filled with new biomes, dungeons, bosses, and quests.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 420 graded mods, 311 are graded A or B, 93 C and 16 D to F. Its last update came out 2 weeks ago, for Minecraft 1.20.1. See the mods
Better MC is a vanilla-plus modpack that expands exploration, combat, building, and progression while retaining a Minecraft-like experience. It overhauls world generation with Biomes O’ Plenty and Geophilic, and adds thousands of dungeons and structures through projects such as When Dungeons Arise and AdoraBuild: Structures. Strongholds and fortresses are overhauled, while new additions include bosses and mobs from Mowzie’s Mobs and Cataclysm. The Aether is expanded with Deep Aether, Aether Redux, and Aether Villages, and the pack also includes rideable dragons. Exploration reaches beyond the Overworld: additions include the Sulfur Caves biome and Sulfur Cubes, Dark Forest villages, new End loot, and Plunderer ships. More than 100 quests provide guidance and progression, including an overhauled End quest category and a quest for crafting the Warp Plate. Quality-of-life features include Waystones, XP Tomes, and Xaero’s Minimap with additional features. Custom shader presets and shader support add visual options such as glowing End portals, while the pack is optimized for performance. Built-in free world sharing makes it possible to share a world with others.
Written from Modrinth and CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge, 9 Oct 2026). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
Compared with the release of 6 Oct 2026 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in the projects we checked
We checked 421 of its 425 projects and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
10 mods send something about you
We read the code of 373 of its 375 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 41 of the 331 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
44 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
