Life in the Village is a low-tech, vanilla-plus modpack for building settlements, exploring, and completing quests, with play that can be relaxed or more challenging. Its two central town-building systems offer distinct ways to shape communities: Millénaire villages are home to cultures whose NPCs develop and upgrade buildings, while Minecolonies lets you plan a colony and direct workers such as builders, farmers, crafters, guards, enchanters, and alchemists. In Millénaire, you can help villages by trading or supplying resources, build reputation through quests, and eventually buy property or request a house. Building options include Chisel blocks, Rustic decorations such as pillars, barrels, and cabinets, Bibliocraft shelves and tool racks, and antique-style Landlust furniture, alongside functional windmills and waterwheels. Low-tech mechanical power supports resource processing, while the pack also offers a deep food-crafting system, multiblock kitchens, fishing and ocean trawling, brewing, apiaries and mead, and new crops. Exploration brings vanilla-based terrain generation, random structures, roguelike dungeons, and a Nether overhaul with new biomes, structures, and mobs; airships provide another way to travel. The world has a broader selection of wildlife and creatures, including deer, butterflies, chameleons, lizards, birds, and mimics, with immersive visual and sound effects. Daily hunting, gathering, and exploration quests introduce activities, while class selection and experience-based leveling add character progression and equipment can have randomized qualities.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.12.2 · Forge, 27 May 2024). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
2 files not listed: no matching project found.
Compared with the release of 17 Nov 2022 for the same platform, Minecraft version and loader. We do not compare the versions of the mods yet.
No harmful code found in the mods we checked
We checked 162 of its 164 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
8 mods send something about you
We read the code of 162 of its 164 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
No sign that AI was used to make its mods
We found no AI use from before this release (27 May 2024) in the 80 mods we checked.
4 mods show AI use only from after it, so it does not apply to the versions in this pack.
84 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
