A tougher survival world with thirst, temperature, stamina, and smarter mobs.
Modpacks get no grade of their own, so we show the grades of its mods. Of its 105 graded mods, 75 are graded A or B, 23 C and 7 D to F. Its last update came out 4 weeks ago, for Minecraft 1.20.1. See the mods
Better than Better Than Wolves is a survival-focused modpack that makes Minecraft feel more demanding and realistic by changing survival, combat, crafting, and mob behavior. Survival mechanics include temperature and thirst bars that interact, sanity affected by player actions, and limited stamina. Combat is more challenging: mobs can attack without vanilla's damage delay, weapon strikes require a full attack cooldown, and bare-handed hits do not knock foes back. Crafting takes time and proceeds step by step, rather than allowing players to quickly craft large quantities at once. Mob behavior is less predictable, with improved pathfinding and target tracking; villagers have a dynamic reputation system, while illagers are smarter and Iron Golems are tougher. The pack also adds guns, combat animations for Farmer's Delight knives, more food, and changes to falling, burning, ambient effects, and visuals.
Written from CurseForge . How we write it
The mods of its newest release (Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge, 28 Sep 2026). Each check result is for the latest files of that mod, which may not be the version in this pack.
No harmful code found in the mods we checked
We checked 103 of its 105 mods and the files in the pack itself, without running them.
Why we show this: a modpack installs the files of its mods, and each mod runs on your computer like any program. Our checks look for known signs of harm. They cannot prove that a file is harmless. In the grade: a modpack has no grade of its own, and each mod's result counts in that mod's grade.
4 mods send something about you
We read the code of 103 of its 105 mods, without running it.
Why we show this: a modpack runs the code of its mods, and a mod can send things about you over the internet, like your player name or your login. Contacting an address to check for updates or download files sends nothing about you. Not in the grade: sending data can be normal for what a mod does.
AI used in 5 of the 81 mods we checked
We found an AI tool in them, or their authors declared AI content.
24 mods are not checked yet.
No sign so far that AI was used to make the pack itself
We looked for AI tools in its texts and found none.
We have not read its files and images yet.
Why we show this: some players and servers avoid projects made with AI, and AI in the game can send what you write to an online service. Not in the grade: using AI does not tell whether a project works well or is kept up to date.
